Greetings families!
I’m Kristin Irwin, a Sierra Vista 3rd grade teacher. I received my Teaching Credential from Sacramento State almost 20 years ago, and since then, I have taught students in every grade from preschool to 8th grade. Before that, I got my Bachelor of Science degree in Community Development and Organizing from UC Davis and worked for a number of years in non-profit organizations. I enjoy working with children and have a passion for learning.
I have three amazing children: Karin, who just finished her first year at Cal Poly, Humboldt; Thomas, who is at Will C Wood; and Kate, who is at Sierra Vista.
I run my classroom with standards-based instruction and a district-approved curriculum. I love to have student-led discussions and have students work on projects, presentations, and research.
I also volunteer with the Sierra Vista PTC, and I enjoy being involved in creating a community at Sierra Vista. I get to use my bachelor’s degree to foster community development and connections with parents, staff, students, and the Vacaville community to enhance the education experience for all of our Sierra Vista students. I volunteer with an amazing group of Sierra Vista parents who are dedicated to making our school better every year.
