Greetings families!
I’m Kristin Irwin, a Sierra Vista 3rd grade teacher. I received my Teaching Credential from Sacramento State almost 20 years ago, and since then, I have taught students in every grade level from preschool to 8th grade. Before that, I got my Bachelor of Science degree in Community Development and Organizing from UC Davis and worked for a number of years in non-profit organizations. I enjoy working with children and have a passion for learning.
I have been married to my spouse, Mike, since 2004. We have three amazing children: Karin, who just graduated from Will C Wood and is heading off to Cal Poly, Humboldt, in the fall; Thomas, who is starting his high school career at Will C Wood; and Kate, who was in my 3rd grade class last year and will be a 4th grader at Sierra Vista this year.
I run my classroom with standard-based instruction and a district-approved curriculum. I love to have student-led discussions and have students work on projects, presentations, and research. I am a very energetic and charismatic teacher, and I feed off the energy of my students and their interest in learning.
I am also the Sierra Vista PTC president, and I enjoy being involved in creating a community at Sierra Vista. I get to use my bachelor’s degree to foster community development and connections with parents, staff, students, and the Vacaville community to enhance the education experience for all of our Sierra Vista students. I volunteer with an amazing board of Sierra Vista parents who are dedicated to making our school better every year.
Please reach out to me if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Kristin Irwin
