MEET MRS. MCKAY
Sierra Vista Families,
Howdy! I’m honored to be returning to Sierra Vista for my seventh year as the 6th grade ELA and History teacher. In our classroom, students are challenged to explore who they are, how they’re growing, and how the world around them has taken shape.
My passion for education began early, and my love of learning continues to this day. I graduated Cum Laude from Texas A&M University in 2017 with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, focusing on 4th–8th grade Language Arts and Social Studies. I also hold a Multiple Subjects Credential and English Learner Authorization in the state of California.
In 2018, my husband, Nathaniel, and I moved to Vacaville so he could begin his career as a musician with the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West. We’re so thankful we made the move! California has become home, and we really hope to stay long-term. In June 2024, we welcomed our son, Weston, into the world. As a family, we love spending time outdoors, climbing at the gym, or watching movies. Personally, I enjoy catching up with friends, reading, and listening to podcasts.
Sixth grade is a year of tremendous change and growth. I’m excited to partner with you and your child as they navigate the sometimes chaotic, but always meaningful, journey into middle school. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
