Mr. Palmer

Hello, Sierra Vista!

I'm Mr. Palmer and I'm really excited for my second year here!  You may have seen me last year hosting cardboard arcade games, coaching boys basketball, or coaching Sport-O-Rama!  After teaching middle school in FSUSD for 8 years, I made the move last year to VUSD and truly found my home teaching 6th grade at Sierra Vista.  Over the past 9 years, I have taught a little bit of everything but the one constant has always been math.  I love the process of finding ways to make learning math feel meaningful.  Most important to me are the relationships that I have built with students and their families over the years, so I'm excited to see what my 10th year of teaching brings as the 6th grade math/science teacher.

I attended California State University, Sacramento for both my bachelor's degree and my teaching credential.  I met my wife there and we moved to Vacaville nine years ago. Since then, we have started a family.  Our daughter will be four this year and we have another on the way!

Outside of teaching and spending time with my family, I love to swim.  I've been a swimmer my entire life!  I was a swim coach in the Sacramento area during my high school and college years.  Kids truly are the best and I can't imagine spending my life any other way.  I also adore games of all kinds and I'm generally a very competitive person.

To past, present, and future students/families, don't ever hesitate to reach out if you need anything!  I am excited to continue establishing myself and making memories here at Sierra Vista!

Mr. Palmer
