Mrs. Walls

Dear Sierra Vista Grizzlies,

Hello! I am Toni Walls and I am delighted to teach 3rd grade at Sierra Vista!

In 1984 I earned my Bachelor of Education from Corban University along with my Bachelor of Science in Education from Western Oregon University, with an emphasis in technology in the classroom. A few years later, I completed coursework for a Curriculum and Instruction Masters at California State University, Sacramento.

In my pursuit to help each student with challenges they face, I utilize my expertise in research-based literacy methods, Zones of Self-Regulation social-emotional curriculum, cooperative learning, STEM educational approach, Universal Design for Learning, and PLC Professional Learning Community collaboration technique.

In 1987, Vacaville Unified School District and I launched our journey together. I began teaching a 3rd/4th grade combination class. In the following years I gained experience while teaching eleven years at Padan Elementary and six years as the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) teacher with VUSD. Then I enjoyed twelve years teaching full day kindergarten in Dixon at Neighborhood Christian School (NCS), and five years ago I went back to Padan as the RTI Intervention Coordinator. It has been exciting to return to teaching 3rd grade, my passion.

As a child, I grew up on our small ranch in Martinez where we raised cows, chickens and Arabian horses. I entered our horses in competitions known as horse shows and was in charge of our horse labor-and-delivery. I also played high school basketball and sang in the traveling choir. It was a busy season, but a fun adventure.

In 1984 I married the love of my life, Bryan Walls, and we have called Vacaville our home since 1987. Together we have 2 adult kids and a noisy cockatiel who loves to sing. I enjoy playing the piano, singing, music, spending time with friends, reading, hiking, time at the lake, abiding in Jesus’ love and gardening.

On a Saturday afternoon, you can find me reading in the garden, or helping my husband, a brilliant craftsman, work on projects ranging from wood to technology.

My daughter, Amara, completed her Bachelor in Psychology and will pursue a Masters in the next few years. She lives in Vacaville and works for Solano County Office of Education.

My son, Bryce, is a gifted video editor, and photographer (my profile picture below is an example of his work). He has started his own business using these talents. He is finishing his Business Marketing Degree at Cal State Fullerton.

Being a lifetime learner gives me a heart and a passion to encourage students to reach for the best they can be no matter what the challenges. I am looking forward to partnering with you to prepare your children to be successful leaders in their unique destiny to positively impact the world!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Toni Walls
