Dear Sierra Vista Families,
Hello, my name is Angelo Marubayashi and I will be teaching 2nd grade this year! I have been teaching since 2007 and more than half of my career has been in 2nd and 3rd grade classes, which have always been my favorite grades to teach. I am very excited to be coming back to a grade I know and I love. I am particularly looking forward to 'read alouds,' math talks, and developing writing skills with our class. I also enjoy sharing art, readers’ theatre, and computer projects with students.
I grew up on a small farm just outside of Winters and spent a lot of time on farm work and building computers. I did my undergraduate work in Film and Digital Media at UC Santa Cruz. I stayed at UCSC to get my education credential and master’s degree. My parents and my brother’s family still live in Winters and the farm is still a great place to expend energy and enjoy the local nature. In my free time I enjoy cooking, reading, video games, my electric bicycle, and spending time with my nieces, one of whom is a second grader this year also.
I love teaching and believe in creating a supportive learning environment for students with high expectations and low pressure. I like working with students at all levels because everyone can improve no matter where they are in their education; we can all be lifelong learners!
