Dear Sierra Vista Families,
My name is Lori Lawn, and I am thrilled to serve as the Elementary Art Teacher at Sierra Vista K-8 School. I have been a proud SV Grizzly since the school first opened, and I truly love our students, families, and staff. It is a blessing to watch our students learn and grow year after year.
A little about me—I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from CSU Sacramento and received my teaching credential from CSU Hayward (now known as CSU East Bay). The 2020–2021 school year marked my 34th year in education! Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to teach every grade level. I’ve taught Kindergarten through 4th grade, served as a writing specialist for 5th and 6th grades, and worked as an Independent Studies teacher for grades 7–12.
I am passionate about both learning and teaching. I believe in the power and promise of education to transform lives, and that belief is what has kept me in the profession for so many years. In my current role, I bring art instruction to our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students each week. Together, we explore the elements of art and learn about famous artists. Most importantly, we discover that creativity stARTs in art class!
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband Mike, our children Carly and Jake, our granddaughter Mia (who is now a proud first-grade Sierra Vista Grizzly!), and our sweet dog, Buddy. I also love to travel and make memories with family and friends.
I look forward to another amazing year of creativity, growth, and Grizzly pride!
Warmly,
Lori Lawn
