Mrs. Moore

MEET MRS. MOORE

Sierra Vista Families,

My name is Diana Moore and I remain thrilled to continue my career in education at Sierra Vista K-8.  As a Bay Area native; I have had a passion for education from a very young age. I was fortunate to grow up in Napa where I attended a series of small schools. In this setting, my teachers were able to inspire within me a desire to go beyond mediocre to pursue greatness. For me, this is just one of the reasons I truly appreciate teaching in a small school setting like Sierra Vista. This setting offers me the ability to focus on the needs of the individual student and to encourage within them a desire to achieve nothing less than excellence.

I currently hold several Degrees including Social and Behavioral Sciences, Fine and Performing Arts and General Education, but earning a Masters Degree in Innovative Teaching and Learning will forever be one of my proudest achievements. Being the first in my family to attend College this serves as a constant reminder to me that we are only limited by our own aspirations and desires, all of my students are capable of amazing things.

My educational roots began by teaching 8th grade, English and Language Arts. I earned my Bachelors in Education with an ELA emphasis through Grand Canyon University in Arizona. Currently, I hold two credentials; an Elementary Multiple Subject as well as a supplemental English Language Arts. This year marks my 9th year teaching within Vacaville Unified and I am thrilled to be getting back to the roots where it all began.

In 2017, I went back to school and earned a Masters Degree in Innovative Teaching and Learning. I have found that students learn best in a comfortable, collaborative, and playful atmosphere. I believe that students benefit greatly from peer-to-peer collaboration and that the use of technology is an excellent way to enhance student learning while at the same time, making it fun.

Outside of the classroom, I have followed my passion for music; both instrumental and choral. Through college and into my adult years I actively continued participating in community groups and productions. These associations have allowed me to perform all over the world; Scotland, England, Canada, Washington DC, and New York City where I performed on The Today Show and in Carnegie Hall as part of the National Madrigal Festival.  This year I am excited to be using my knowledge of vocal performance and adding a choir option to our middle school elective choices.

When I am not at school, I enjoy singing in choirs, reading a good book, and traveling with my husband and two amazing kids. You may find us attending Giants games, playing at the park, or spoiling our furriest family members; Gambit and Olaf.

I am eagerly looking forward to the 2022 - 2023 school year – Go Grizzlies!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Moore
